Educate Together has welcomed the release of the results of the parental survey of primary school preference in Castlebar. Results show positive levels of support from Castlebar parents on having the choice of an Educate Together school in their community. In addition to Castlebar the pilot survey was also conducted in Whitehall (Dublin), Trim, Tramore, and Arklow during October and November.

Munnelly welcomes slip way funding
Killala Fine Gael councillor Jarlath Munnelly welcomed the allocation of €112,500 to re-develop Kilcummin slipway in Carrowmore-Lacken. The allocation from the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Marine Simon Coveney will allow the construction of a new slipway and turning area, as well as the repair of the storm wall which collapsed over the winter.

Proposal for community to fix pothole problem
The ongoing saga of potholes on roads around Ballina was raised once again at the Ballina Electoral Area meeting this week when Fine Gael councillor , Jarlath Munnelly said, “I may sound like a broken record in respect of this but the problem of the potholes has to be fixed. If we don’t get it sorted in the next short while, it will be 10 times worse by the time we can do it again if we get a winter like last year”.
Ballina area councillors call for council to look at wind farm application
The members of the Ballina Electoral Area this week called on the council to look again at a planning application for four wind turbines that is scheduled to be turned down for permission by the council.
